Honeywell/Ademco Alarm Battery Troubleshooting Guide

Honeywell/Ademco Alarm Battery Troubleshooting Guide

If your Great Power 300-03865 7.2V NiMH backup battery is not being detected by your Honeywell/Ademco alarm system, including Lynx or LYNX Touch series models, the battery voltage may simply be too low for the panel to recognize immediately.

New backup batteries can sometimes arrive partially discharged. In many cases, the alarm panel will detect the battery correctly once it has been connected and allowed to charge.

1. Allow the Battery to Charge

Connect the battery to the alarm panel, restore AC power, and allow the battery to charge uninterrupted for 24 to 48 hours.

2. Perform a Full Power Cycle

A full power cycle can help reset the alarm panel and force it to re-detect the backup battery.

  • Unplug the AC power transformer from the wall outlet.
  • Open the main control panel.
  • Disconnect the battery’s red and black leads.
  • Wait 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Reconnect the battery first.
  • Plug the AC power transformer back into the wall outlet.

3. Check the Battery Connection

Make sure the battery connector is firmly and fully seated on the circuit board. Also check that the wires are not loose, damaged, or pinched.

4. Clear the Low Battery Warning

If the battery is detected but the panel still shows a low battery warning or continues to beep, enter your user code and press OFF twice to clear the trouble memory.
