Motorola’s industry-exclusive IMPRES technology allows communication between the charger and the battery, which enables automated battery reconditioning, display of critical charging information, and other key benefits. IMPRES batteries have a memory chip that stores all usage information, which can then be accessed and evaluated by any IMPRES charger. IMPRES chargers have the built-in reconditioning capability that is automatically utilized any time an IMPRES battery requiring maintenance is inserted.
Q: Will this battery charge and work in place of an original Impres battery?
A: Yes, it will charge fine and also work fine in your radios, utilizing the smart charging technology that IMPRES offers.

A: No, it is not.
Q: What does an intrinsically safe battery mean?
A: Intrinsically safe (IS) is defined as communication equipment that does not release sufficient electrical or thermal energy under certain operating conditions to cause the ignition of a specific hazardous mixture of air. An IS rating is required for equipment to be used in Division 1 environments. Intrinsically safe means it is required for you to process equipment (like two-way radios and accessories) wherever there is an area where flammable gases, vapors, or liquids exist, like a fire. Just because an accessory may be waterproof or gas-proof does not mean it is intrinsically safe. Testing is done by independent laboratories to ensure communications equipment is certified intrinsically safe.
